A ‘Winsome’ Gift
Jim, ’79 law, and Carolyn Gray, ’76, ’79 law, are both sailors at heart, and they loved the fast, splashy excitement of piloting Winsome, their 24-foot sailboat, across the open water of Lake Murray. The USC Sailing Club sometimes borrowed the Gray’s J/24 for training purposes, and the Grays noticed how well-maintained the students were keeping their watercraft. So the Grays made a strategic decision: let the Sailing Club take permanent ownership of the Winsome. “We really weren’t racing anymore,” Jim Gray says, “and it’s wonderfully speedy and a great training boat—perfect for the Sailing Club.” Members of the club couldn’t agree more.
